When planning our cruise we knew the best place to “port out of” would be Miami, and honestly its been on our bucket list to visit and now we get this chance! Most people think of Miami as an adult place with nightlife, exotic cars, and food. But we will have our teens with us! Join us as we start to discover ideas on what to do with your teens in Miami.
Here are our top 5 things we have researched
1. Walk down Lincoln Road
We have heard that Lincoln Road is one of the best places to experience the animated-yet-laid-back Miami lifestyle, this area is lined with shops and restaurants, which will help pass time as we can watch all the people. We have been told to park our rental car in the public parking lot on 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and shop with the girls down Lincoln Road.
We were told that WE must STOP for a bite at Nexxt Café as the atmosphere is incredible and very Miami. This is a place your teens will absolutely love as there is so much for them to do and spend their money on!
Our Kids use to watch Disney Chanel and this is the location of Austin and Ali so they are excited to visit this!
2. Visit Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne
Although Miami Beach is absolutely gorgeous, we have heard it can get pretty wild at times and we are not interested in our girls or us seeing a wet T-shirt contest.
We have been told to check out Crandon Park Beach as this is a favorite alternative because it tends to be less crowded and has a more relaxed feel to it. Located in Key Biscayne, or “The Key,” Crandon Park Beach is a picture-perfect place where you can catch some sun and perhaps play some beach volleyball.
3. Cool Off at the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables
If you’ve had enough of the beach, we were told to check out the Venetian Pool, a historic and beautiful pool in Coral Gables using coral rocks from a nearby quarry. Because sunshine and cool, natural spring water is a perfect combination, this pool is great for a fun family day in the water.
Everyone will have a blast jumping off the rocks, going under the caves and swimming up to the huge waterfall, plus, there’s even a kiddie pool area for the younger ones. Admission is $13 for everyone over the age of 13 and $8 for all children ages 3-12. (Note that children under the age of three are not permitted).
4. Explore the Murals in Miami’s Wynwood Neighborhood
We love our Instagram and Images we can caption, we were told this is a must to see!
The Wynwood Walls are a big attraction near Miami’s Art District and one of the trendiest places in town. Take a walk down the streets of Wynwood and become surrounded by street art painted by all kinds of artists, including local students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools and others who are internationally recognized.
After grabbing all the pictures we needed for IG our contacts said to try the incredible Mexican food at Coyo Taco and take time to visit some of the stunning galleries in the area, where you can often see the artists doing their thing.
This is what I am most excited for!
5. Catch a Game or Concert
If you enjoy sports, music or theater, Miami has plenty of venues to keep you entertained. If you’re looking to catch a baseball game, watch the Miami Marlins play at Marlins Park, which has a beautiful view of the Miami skyline. Hockey fans might want to see the Florida Panthers play at the BB&T Center, while Miami Dolphins can catch a football game in Sun Life Stadium.
Not only does the American Airlines Arena host the outstanding Miami Heat basketball team. We may just catch a Basketball game.
All in All, we are in Miami for 48 hours and we now have our days planned with events and fun things to do. We will update you once we return and invite you to share your ideas with us too!
